Us A closeup of the top of the furnace interior reveals how the bosh was constructed by lining it with bricks endwise. While the structure has suffered considerable damage from tree roots dismantling the large exterior stones, the brick-lined interior remains in relatively good condition, a testament to the integrity of skilled masons that collaborated on the project nearly 170 years ago.
